"The Pink City and capital of Rajasthan"

Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan, one of the states in India. It is often referred to as the “Pink City” due to its uniform color in the old city. In the heart of the city sits the City Palace, which still houses the Royal Family. Nearby, visitors can find the iconic Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar along with endless streets with textile shops.

We spent a good deal of time in Jaipur, and the Rajasthani capital did not disappoint. There is always something going on from the hectic street markets to the stunning Amber Fort. Accommodation and good food are plentiful in the capital, and visitors have endless options on which part of the city to stay in.

The modern and newer city of Jaipur has western stores and food options, along with the legendary Lassiwala. Beware of the nearby imitators – there’s only one original Lassiwala so be sure to visit stall number 312! For those who prefer the Old City and don’t mind the hectic hustle, Jaipur’s Pink City has plenty of places to explore.

We enjoyed our time in Jaipur and would recommend it as a stop during a tour of Rajasthan.
