11 Things to Do in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
"Upscale amenities mixed with local charm"
Kuala Lumpur is a city well known for shopping, nightlife, and amazing cuisine. As the capital of Malaysia, its modern skyline and stunning glass Petronas Twin Towers dominate views from much of the city.
We only intended to spend a week in Kuala Lumpur before exploring more of Malaysia, but loved the city so much that we stayed for over 2 weeks. Kuala Lumpur is the perfect blend of modern and charming.
In and around KLCC, the city center, visitors can find ultra modern sky rises, neatly groomed parks, and some of Kuala Lumpur’s biggest attractions. For those craving a bit more of a local touch, the nearby markets surrounding Jalan Alor are a great place o walk around and taste some bargain bites.
From an expense standpoint, Kuala Lumpur is a great place to hang out with a low budget. Meals seldom cost more than $2USD, clothes can be purchased for a fraction of the price of Europe and the US, and budget housing ranges $10-20 USD per night for a private room on Airbnb.
Though we missed much of what Malaysia has to offer by staying longer in Kuala Lumpur, we don’t regret the decision and would go back in a heartbeat!
